Colour holds for 1960s cosmic orange

Screen orange lies. What looks like Johnny’s flame on a phone will print as cheap satsuma if I do not hold it back. For family editions I mix a slightly burnt orange and let the crackle sit in a second, drier pass. The mill in Lincolnshire dampens Somerset enough that a hot orange can bloom into the neighbour’s force-field.

Baxter blue is the opposite problem: it dies if I thin it for “atmosphere.” I keep it dense in costumes and windows, then let the kitchen tiles stay the collector’s real colour. The Fantastic Four should visit the house, not redecorate it.

Skin holds for Ben are mixed last. If I start with the hide, everything else gets too grey. I learned that on the March drop, when a collector in Norwich wrote that the Thing looked tired. He was right. We remixed and reprinted the reserved proofs; the issued count stayed thirty-six.
